I own the copyright of this material and am happy for it to appear on Wikipedia if it is acceptable. On the other hand, I have now read more about Wikipedia, so if you prefer to delete it, that is fine too.

Keep up the good work on an excellent online resource!

I have made a substantial change in the style of presentation, hopefully in line with Wikipedia guidelines. — Jonathan Bowen 13:41, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Jonathan, I think the issue here is still the lack of references. If the information in this article is true, then you are clearly notable enough to merit inclusion. The problem is that at the moment little of this is verifiable as so few independent sources are given, and there is little is any linkage between those sources that are given and the statements that they are sources for. Starting from the beginning of the article, how do I know you are an FBCS or an FRSA, how do I know you were born in 1956, how do I know you are British, how do I know your professorship is a computing professorship, how do I know you are a professor at LSBU (rather than a professor somewhere else, and employed in a non-professorial role by LSBU)? In the next paragraph, how do I know you were born in Oxford, how do I know Humphry Bowen was your dad, how do I know you were educated at ... ? The best way to ensure that this page persists in reasonable shape once you're no longer around to ensure it's not deleted or hacked about, is to ensure it's as backed up by evidence as possible. As it stands, people are justifiably suspicious that it is just a vanity project. SP-KP 23:14, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your feedback. I have added some external references. Let me know if more is needed. Jonathan Bowen 00:18, 5 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A good start. There are still a number of statements which are not tied to a specific reference though. If there is a specific "primary" reference which we should assume is the default reference for any statements not given a specific inline reference, I think it would be useful to state which this is. References

[edit]

I've gone over the page to find sources for the unsupported statements. The main weakness is that most references are written by the subject. This is common with academics, and the info is on various faculty and speaker biography pages so does have some level of scrutiny ccompared to personal websites and blogs. However, it'd be ideal to have fully third-party sources where possible. I've left the bibliography section (though I'm not usually a big fan, since they go out of date with live authors and there are bibliography web pages linked to anyway in the ext links). Thank you for the additional sources, unfortunately it has been extensively edited by the subject, and in my opinion is still not completely neutral. Furthermore, the subject has made multiple attempts to remove the autobio tag when he knows good and well he does not have the right to do it. Therefore, I think it would be beneficial for readers to see the autobio tag. Happy for an admin to step in. Hadal1337 (talk) 14:14, 19 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
